Appointment Preparation
The following restrictions are to ensure that not only are the procedures safe, but that your skin is well prepared for the treatments. Please follow all necessary restrictions to ensure that we get the best possible result on the day.
All Treatments
-
Please try to arrive on time - these are treatments we can’t rush! Please note, more than 15 minutes late to the appointment may result in cancellation due to insufficient time to perform treatment.
-
Please don’t bring children or other people to the appointment.
-
Please do not work out on the day of the procedure - blood pressure will be elevated and body heat will expand the pores.
-
Avoid exposure to heavy sunlight for 2 weeks leading up to the procedure - heavy exposure can make the skin more sensitive.
-
Do not drink coffee, or anything with caffeine in it, on the day of procedure - this can increase the likeliness of you bleeding during the procedure, which can negatively impact your pigment retention and cause bruising.
-
Do not drink alcohol 24 hours before the procedure - this is a blood thinner.
-
Avoid fish oil supplements for 2 weeks prior
-
Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E and/or Ibuprofen, unless medically necessary, 48-72 hours prior to the procedure - these thin your blood, and increase the likeliness of bleeding during the procedure.
-
Ensure you have had no Accutane/Retin-A Treatments within the past 6 months.
-
No invasive skin treatment i.e. peels, microdermabrasion 2-3 weeks prior - skin must be smooth and healed.
-
Avoid retinol/glycolic acids in area for 2 weeks prior - check with your skin specialist if you are unsure of ingredients.
-
No facial laser 2 weeks before and after.
-
It is ideal to wash your hair beforehand - it will be hard to wash for 2-3 days afterwards.
Eyebrows
-
Ensure you have had no botox/filler treatments for 4 weeks prior to your procedure.
-
Do not wax and tweeze for 3 days before procedure - irritation could create an increased risk for infection.
-
No eyebrow tinting, henna or lamination 2 weeks prior - we need to see where the eyebrow hair is actually sparse, and any dying product obscures those areas which increases the risk of incomplete coverage.
-
Gently exfoliate face including over the brows in the 2-3 days prior.
-
If you have photos of brows you like, have them ready to show us.
Eyeliner
-
Do not wear contact lenses. It is advised to bring a pair of glasses for the drive home or arrange transportation.
-
Cease use of eyelash serum for 2 weeks prior and not continue for 4 weeks after - can cause eyelid inflammation which may be problematic during treatment and also impacts pigment retention.
-
Avoid lash tints or lifts/perms for 2 weeks prior.
-
Eyelash extensions must be removed at least 3 days prior and cannot have them reapplied for 4 weeks, until the tattoo is fully healed. Keep in mind a touch up appointment may be required at 6-12 weeks.
Lips
-
For a week, regularly apply moisturising lip balm or vaseline to ensure they are well hydrated and smooth.
-
Applying bepanthen cream overnight works well if you have very dry lips.
-
Do not use a plumping lip serum/gloss on the day of procedure.
-
Exfoliate lips 2 days prior using a gentle scrub - it’s important that your lips are not cracked or dry on the day of treatment.
-
Do not smoke on the day of treatment and afterwards for 24 hours.
-
Must take an anti viral medication a week prior to treatment, and a week after if you have history of outbreaks with cold sores (Herpes virus - Herpes simplex).
-
Must not have had cold sore in the past 14 days.
-
Do not have any cosmetic injections/filler 4 weeks before or after in lip area.
-
Avoid spicy, greasy, acidic or very salty food for 24 hours prior.
-
If you suffer from angular cheilitis/cuts at sides of the lips, please seek medical treatment to resolve before booking.
-
If you have a lipstick colour you love, bring it along with you and we can match it.
Please schedule your booking accordingly to avoid complications. If you have any questions about these restrictions, please contact Em Cosmetic Studio at info@emcosmeticstudio.com and we'll be happy to clarify as needed.
